Dusky Goby

Characterized by dark brown color of head and body with scattered white flecks; dusky brown dorsal fins with pale bands or rows of dark brown spots and 1-2 relatively large blackish spots on basal portion; dusky brown caudal fin with rows of dark spots; brown pelvic and anal fins; brown pectoral fins with white spots; united pelvic fins with frenum; rounded caudal fin; longitudinal scale series 28-30; cycloid scales on head and anterior body, ctenoid posteriorly; cheek and opercle with cycloid scales; predosal scales 8-11, extending to rear margin of eyes; head with prominent papillae ridges; depth of body 4.0-5.6 in SL (Ref. 90102).

Inhabits rocky shores and coral reefs in 3-15 m (Ref. 90102).

分布於西太平洋區海域，包括日本、臺灣、印尼和澳大利亞北部的東海岸等。臺灣分布於東部、南部及綠島等海域。

小型魚類，不具漁業價值。

第一背鰭：Ⅵ；第二背鰭：Ⅰ, 8~10；臀鰭：Ⅰ, 7~8；胸鰭：16~18。縱列鱗 27~34；背鰭前鱗6~11。身體延長，前部圓筒型、後部側扁，標準體長為魚體高的 5.0~5.1倍，呈現鈍圓狀。頭平扁，頭寬大於頭高。上頜、頰部具有肉質皮瓣構造數個。尾鰭圓形，等於或稍短於頭長；胸鰭末端延伸超過臀鰭基部；腹鰭短，相連癒合成吸盤狀。體呈棕灰色，體側隱具3條黑褐色橫帶：第一條橫帶在第一背鰭的下方，並在第一背鰭基底處有一個黑斑；第二條、第三條橫帶在第二背鰭下方，伸達腹側，並在第二背鰭基底處形成兩個大黑斑。頭部嵴狀感覺乳突為黑色。臀鰭具黑色點紋；腹鰭黑色；尾鰭具黑色橫紋。(林上智、林沛立編寫 2012/10)

生活在熱帶沿岸岩礁或珊瑚礁區碎石底質的暖水性小型底層魚類。雜食性，以藻類及底棲生物為食。
