హెర్డ్మేనియా (రాబ్డోసింధియా) సామాన్యంగా లభ్యమయ్యే సరళ అసిడియన్. దీనిలో 12 జాతులున్నాయి. వాటిలో నాలుగు జాతులు మాత్రమే హిందూ మహాసముద్ర జలాలలో కనిపిస్తాయి[1]. తీర సముద్ర జలాలలో హెర్డ్మేనియా పాలిడా, హె.సిలోనికా, లొతు సముద్ర జలాలలో హె.మారిషియానా, హె.ఎన్యూరెంసిస్ కనిపిస్తాయి. హెర్డ్మేనియా పాలిడా పసిఫిక్, అట్లాంక్, అరేబియా సముద్ర జలాలలో కూడ కనిపిస్తుంది.
ప్రజాతి రాబ్డోసింధియా అను పేరును 1891 లో హెర్డ్ మాన్ పెట్టెను. 1910లో హర్డ్ మేయర్ దీనికి బదులుగా హెర్డ్మేనియా అను పేరును ప్రతిపాదించెను. 1936 లో S.M. దాస్ హెర్డ్మేనియా మీద నిర్వహించిన పరిశోధన ఆధారంగా, దీనికి సంబంధించిన ప్రస్తుత సమాచారము ఆధారపడి ఉంటుంది.
హెర్డ్మేనియా దాదాపు బంగాళ దుంప ఆకారంలో ఉంటుంది. స్వేచ్చాతలం కంటే పీఠ భాగం కోద్దిగా సన్నగా ఉంటుంది. ఇది సుమారు 13 సెం.మీ పొడవు, 7 సెం.మీ వెడల్పు కలిగి ఉంటుంది.ఇది అసలు జంతువువలె కనిపించక చైతన్య రహితమైన ఒక సంచివలె సముద్రపు నీటిలో ఆధారాన్ని అంటుకోని ఉంటుంది. శరీర పార్శ్వభాగాలు నొక్కబడి,దీర్ఘ చతురస్రాకారములో ఉండి, పై భాగము వెడల్పుగాను, కిందభాగము సన్నగాను ఉంటుంది.
శరీరాన్ని చుట్టి కవచము లేక కంచుకము ఉంటుంది.ఇది సెల్యులోజ్ వంటి పదార్ధమైన ట్యునిసిన్(C6H10O5) తో ఏర్పడి ఉంటుంది.

When found at depth the red colourations may also not be visible, as lower frequencies of light are absorbed by the layers of water above.

Herdmania momus is een zakpijpensoort uit de familie van de Pyuridae.[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1816 door Marie Jules César Savigny.
