They are native to ParaíBa, Venezuela, Amapá, The Contiguous United States, Saint Lucia, Sergipe, Cerrado, Pernambuco, Honduras, Roraima, Trinidad And Tobago, Espirito Santo, Distrito Federal, Mato Grosso, Pampa, Puerto Rico, Suriname, Saint Kitts And Nevis, Pantanal, Caatinga, Guatemala, Central America, Cuba, RondôNia, Amazônia, Mata Atlântica, Ceará, Bolivia, SãO Paulo, The Americas, Grenada, French Guiana, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Peru, Pará, Brazil, Paraná, Tocantins, Bahia, Mexico, Guyana, Saint Vincent And The Grenadines, Guadeloupe, Dominica, The Dominican Republic, Uruguay, El Salvador, Rio Grande Do Sul, Panama, Jamaica, Haiti, Piauí, Costa Rica, Alagoas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Colombia, Paraguay, Rio De Janeiro, Rio Grande Do Norte, Ecuador, Maranhao, Santa Catarina, Nicaragua, Argentina, GoiáS, Minas Gerais, North America, US Minor Outlying Islands, and Acre (Brazil). They have achenes. Flowers are visited by Monarch, Julia Heliconian, Long-windged Skipper, and Megachile poeyi.
