Leaf-blades ovate, ovate-lanceolate, or lanceolate, 6-12 cm. long, acuminate, pubescent
on both sides, at least when young, usually permanently so beneath, bright-green above,
paler beneath, rounded or subcordate at the base, short-petioled ; sepals oblong-ovate, 2.5-3
mm. long, the glands nearly as long as the sepal-body; petals "rose-colored," "lilac,"
" violet," or " yellow," 4-5 mm. long, the blades denticulate; samaras suborbicular, 2.5-3
cm. in diameter, erose-undulate, usually cordate at the base, the dorsal wing keel-like.
Type locality : Cuinana, Venezuela.
Distribution : Salvador, Panama, and northern South America.
