Saxifraga subapetala E. Nelson, Erythea 7 : 169. 1899.
Leaves erect or ascending, 3-17 cm. long, the blades narrowly oblong to oblong-spatulate, or linear-oblong, the earlier ones relatively shorter and broader, all undulate or remotely glandular-toothed, often sparingly pubescent, ciliolate, gradually narrowed into petiole-like bases which are more or less scarious and sheathing at the base ; scapes erect, typically solitary, 28-50 cm. tall, thinly glandular-pubescent, narrowly paniculate above; cymules aggregated into clusters terminating the short branches of the inflorescence, or some of the upper ones almost sessile ; sepals ovate, 1-2 mm. long, 3-veined, eciliate ; petals wanting or obsolete; filaments subulate; follicles 3-4 mm. high, green or pur pietinged, the stout tips spreading or ultimately somewhat recurved.
Type locality : pastern Idaho. Distribution : Montana, Wyoming and Idaho.
