Enteromius leonensis (Boulenger 1915)

Diagnosis: last simple dorsal-fin ray smooth on hind margin; scale formula 4.5-5.5/21-26/2.5-3.5; 1.5 scales between lateral line and pelvic-fin base; 8-10 scales around caudal peduncle; lateral-line scales as deep as other scales on sides; 7-8 branched dorsal fin rays; no barbels; lateral line incomplete, deeply depressed below dorsal fin; maximum reported size 33 mm SL; dorsal fin marked with black spot at midpoint of its length; black spot at end of caudal peduncle (Ref. 2940, 81282). Description: small species, relatively compressed body; no barbels; D:III,(7)8; A:III,5(6); P:13-14; V:I,7 (Ref. 2940, 81282). Lateral line incomplete, with only the first 4-10 scales pored; 21-26 scales in longitudinal series; 4.5 or 5.5 from the dorsal-fin origin to the lateral line (Ref. 28714, 81282).Coloration: body pale yellow in life; black spot at end of caudal peduncle and another one at mid-height of anterior dorsal-fin rays (Ref. 2940, 81282).

Potamodromous. Migrating within streams, migratory in rivers, e.g. Saliminus, Moxostoma, Labeo. Migrations should be cyclical and predictable and cover more than 100 km.

Dorsal soft rays (total): 10 - 11; Analsoft rays: 8 - 9

Affinities: B. stigmatopygus (without dorsal fin spot) (Ref. 2940).
