Guarea rovirosae C. DC. Ann. Cons. Jard Geneve 10: 145. 1907.
A tree, the young twigs puberulent, glabrous in age; leaves alternate, 9 cm. or more long, the petioles and rachis sparingly pilose; leaflets 4, opposite, elliptic-lanceolate to somewhat ovate, 1 1 cm. long, 4.5 cm. broad, short-petioluled, equilateral and acute at the base, acuminate to long-acuminate at the apex, membranaceous and sparingly pilose on the veins, the margin ciliate; inflorescence raceme-like, short-peduncled, sparingly pilose; flowers pedicelled; calyx 4-toothed, 1.5 mm. in diameter, puberulent, the teeth broadly triangular, acute, ciliate; petals 4, oblong, 5.5-6 mm. long, 1.5-2 mm. broad, sparingly appressed-pilose above; staminal tube cylindric, 4.5 mm. high, glabrous; anthers oblong; ovary 4-celled, sparingly pilose.
Type locality: Near Atasta, Tabasco. Distribution* Mexico.
