Hypanus americanus (Southern Stingray) is a species of Myliobatiformes in the family whiptail stingrays. They are listed as near threatened by IUCN. They are native to The Nearctic, The Neotropics, and Atlantic Ocean. They are solitary, nocturnal carnivores. They have parental care (female provides care). They rely on swimming to move around.
