Mazaeras janeira (Schaus) Hampson, 1901a, pp. 441, 442.

Forewing 27.5 mm. Head greyish brown, with deep yellow spot anterior and posterior to each antenna. Scape of antenna orange-yellow. Thorax brownish orange, with deep yellow medial margin to each tegula. Forewing light brown, with deep yellow veins and transverse striations. Hindwing yellowish white and greyish brown. Dorsal surface of abdomen deep yellow; segment 2 with greyish brown medial patch; segment 3 with greyish brown transverse medial band; segment 4 with a trilobate, greyish brown medial patch; segments 5–7 with greyish brown medial spot and pair of lateral spots; 2–8 with greyish brown marking at lateral border of each segment; tail fringe greyish brown; ventral surface of abdomen yellowish brown.

Described from an unspecified number of males and females from “Rio Janeiro,” Brazil. A female labeled “type ♀”.and two males in the USNM collection probably represent paralectotypes.
