Laciris pelagicus (Worthington 1932)

Laciris pelagicus is a species of poeciliid found in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. It is endemic to Lake Edward where it is found near the surface in open water. This species grows to a total length of 8 cm (3.1 in). It was formerly included in Micropanchax, but recently, authorities have moved it to the monotypic genus Laciris.^[2]

Laciris pelagica^[3], unique représentant du genre Laciris, est une espèce de poissons de la famille des Poeciliidae et qui est endémique du lac Albert situé entre l'Ouganda et la République démocratique du Congo^[4].

Systématique

L'espèce Laciris pelagica a été initialement décrite en 1932 par l'ichtyologiste britannique Edgar Barton Worthington (1905-2001) sous le protonyme de Haplochilichthys bukobanus pelagicus^[2].

En 1982, l'ichtyologiste français Jean Henri Huber (d) crée le genre Laciris pour l'y classer.

Description

Laciris pelagica mesure jusqu'à 8 cm^[4]. C'est un poisson de surface qui se rencontre dans les eaux libres et profondes du lac Albert^[4].
