Dielis tolteca, the Toltec scoliid wasp, is a species of hymenopteran in the family Scoliidae. It is commonly found on plants in the genus Solidago.[1]
D. tolteca appears similar to D. pilipes, but can be distinguished in males by the number of bands on their abdomen, as D. tolteca has four bands and D. pilipes has five. Females, however, are distinct in that they have an orange abdomen, which it shares with D. sorsata. This species also has a smoother propodeum than D. pilipes.
Males in this species also look akin to D. plumipes, but have different ranges, only meeting in Texas.
D. tolteca is mainly found in the Southwestern United States and Northern Mexico.
