Description: Monkfish from Brazil.
This is Lophiodes beroe Caruso,1981. John Caruso has a publication showing some photos he took from the R/V Johnson Sea Link showing the characteristic white humeral spots. The spots were first observed using the Sea Link (Fig. 4, p. 1022) and have never been seen on preserved specimens.
