Description: English: Ipomoea macrorhiza 1 day after aboveground germination. A future "night-glory" in the making. This species has a large, tuberous, edible root and blooms only at night. It is also known as purple moon-flower. A fully germinated seedling is in the middle; a germinating seedling can be seen to the left of it. Seeds require gentle abrasion to germinate best.
