Buah Mundar (dalam bahasa latin: garcinia parvolia (Miq) Miq) atawa Manggis Habang marupakan salah satu buah langka nang khas matan Kalimantan Selatan. Buah ngini baisi rasa nangkaya buah manggis. Tanaman ngini gin masih masuk kadalam family garcinia atawa masih saparanakan lawan manggis. Buah ngini baisi ukuran nangkaya gundu atawa sadikit tahalus pada buah manggis wan dua kali taganal pada kalikir.

Bagi urang Banjar. Ngaran Mundar surang baasal matan kata bundar ulih buah ngini baisi rupa bulat wan baisi diameter kurang labih 3 sentimeter. Kulitnya cukup kandal wan bawarna habang nyarak. Kulit Mundar banyak baisi banyu sahingga parmukaan kulitnya mancilang amun takana cahaya. Daging buahnya kawa baisi 5-10 biji wan bawarna putih susu nangkaya buah manggis. Rasanya manis tacampur asam wan mangandung banyak banyu.

Puhunnya badiri tagak wan mampu mancapai katinggian 10-15 meter. Kulit batangnya bawarna cuklat lawan baisi parmukaan nang halus wan agak licin. Ganal batangnya kurang labih antara 30-40 sentimeter. Rupa parcabangannya kada birut manyusun tajuk nang barupa kaya piramida.

Rupa tulang daunnya manyirip lawan baisi tapian nang rata wan maruncing. Panjang daun kawa antara 12-22 sentimeter wan lebar kurang labih 5 sentimeter.

Tanaman ini banyak tumbuh di padalaman hutan Kalimantan wan kawa tumbuuh hingga katinggian hingga 700 meter matan atas laut. rancak Mundar tumbuh dibawah puhun palindung nang kalembapannya cukup tinggi.

Di padalaman Kalimantan tanaman ini sudah jarang ditamui malahan ka arah langka, lamun ada, rancak baasal matan puhun Mundar nang sudah tuha. Usaha pambudidayaan tanaman ini gin jarang digawi sahingga magin laju panurunan pupulasinya. Salain itu harga jualnya masih randah sahingga sabagian urang kampung kulir gasan mangambangbiakakannya.

Tanaman ngini banyak dimapaatkan buah-buahannya. Buahnya nangkaya kalangkala, rancak dimakan ulih kakanakan kampung. Daging buahnya nang banyak baisi banyu kawa mangurangi rasa haus.

Garcinia parvifolia, the Kundong, Brunei cherry or Asam aur aur, is a tropical evergreen tree native to Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Sulawesi and Sumatra.[1][2] The tree is found at elevations of 600–800 metres (2,000–2,600 ft) in humid environments, and grows to a height of 33 metres (108 ft). The bark, wood, leaves, and fruit of the kundong tree are used by humans.[3]

Propagation

Kundong trees grow in the humid interior of Borneo.[4] The trees can be found at higher elevations along ridges and near riverbanks. The kundong propagates through seeds that take around six months to germinate. The tree grows quickly and once planted can produce fruit in as little as 4 years.[2] The majority of kundong grow in the wild, but the tree can be cultivated in gardens.[4][3]

Usage

In Borneo the bark of the tree is used to produce resin, while the wood is used in furniture or for carving. The juvenile leaves of the tree are eaten as a vegetable.[5] The plant is used as a rootstock for mangosteen.[5]

Fruit

Kundong can be eaten raw or cooked.[3] The small red-yellow fruit has a sour taste with a sweet white pulp. Younger fruits are used to produce a sour taste in other types of food, such as curry. The fruit is about the size of a cherry and looks similar to a purple mangosteen, hence the nicknames Brunei cherry (interchangeable with Borneo cherry) and red mangosteen.[4]
