Stems erect, ascending or prostrate, arising from a tuber. Tendrils simple (macrocarpa) or 0 (polymorpha). Stipule-like bracts present or 0. Corolla star-like, with 5 greenish-yellow, often reflexed, lobes, often apppearing before the leaves. Stamens 3. Fruit baccate, red, indehiscent.
