They are native to Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Peru, and Paraguay. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Sphex flavovestitus, Southern Dogface, Gray Hairstreak, and Common Eastern Bumblebee.
