Melia azedarach (Chinaberry) is a species of tree in the family Meliaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Afrotropics, Sri Lanka, China, Japan, Indonesia, Australia, Solomon Islands, New Guinea, and India. They have compound, broad leaves, purple flowers, and drupes. Flowers are visited by Danaus plexippus plexippus, Honey bee, Planalto Hermit, and Monarch. Individuals can grow to 50 feet.
