Hypolepis (beadfern)[2] is a genus of ferns described as a genus in 1806.[3][4] The word is derived from Greek, meaning "under scale".[5] It is found in tropical and subtropical regions, primarily in the New World but also in the Old World and on various oceanic islands.[6][7]

El género fue descrito por Johann Jakob Bernhardi y publicado en Neues Journal für die Botanik 1(2): 34. 1805[1806][3] La especie tipo es: Hypolepis tenuifolia
