Size of locomotive cell can range between 3 and 75 µm. Amoebae flattened with an obvious hyaloplasm that can separate into anterior clefts. Shape variable from fan-shaped to elongate with a tendency towards eruptive motion when changing direction. Some with uroidal filaments. Floating form usually irregular without radiating pseudopodia. Five species from marine habitats. Type species: F. citata Schaeffer, 1926.
