This is a species of Clypeobarbus distinguished from all congenersby the presence of a well-defined lachrymal stripe running from the tip of the snout to the eye, and an elevated number of circumpeduncular scales (Ref. 79650). Small conical tubercules over upper and lower lip and posterior edge of rostral cap (Ref. 79650). Two pairs of barbels; anterior barbel small and feeble, not reaching base of posterior barbel; posterior barbel longer and more robust than anterior barbel, not reaching center of pupil (Ref. 79650). Scales radially striated; 26-27 in lateral line, and 1-2 on caudal fin base; 3.5/1/1.5 body rows; 12 circumpeduncular rows; 8-9 predorsal rows (Ref. 79650). Lateral line is complete (Ref. 79650). Dorsal fin with iv,8 rays; positioned midway between snout and caudal-fin base; origin anterior to pelvic-fin insertion; last unbranched ray simple and smooth (Ref. 79650). Anal fin with iii,5 rays (Ref. 79650). In alcohol, body pale creamy white (Ref. 79650). All scales bordered with black melanophores; pigmentation most intense around lateral line scales (Ref. 79650). Prominent dark oblique bar situated posterodorsal to cleithrum (Ref. 79650).

Clypeobarbus bomokandi és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels ciprínids i a l'ordre dels cipriniformes.[5]

Morfologia

Fa 4,5 cm de llargària màxima.[6] Cap espina i 12 radis tous a l'única aleta dorsal. Cap espina i 8 radis tous a l'aleta anal. 0 espines i 15-16 radis tous a les aletes pectorals. 0 espines i 8-8 radis tous a les aletes pelvianes. Absència d'aleta adiposa. 32 vèrtebres. Presència d'una franja lacrimal ben definida des de l'extrem del musell fins als ulls i de protuberàncies còniques petites sobre la vora del llavi. 2 parells de barbetes sensorials. 26-27 escates a la línia lateral, 1-2 a la base de l'aleta caudal i 12-12 al voltant del peduncle caudal. Totes les escates vorejades amb melanòfors de color negre. Línia lateral completa. Conservat en alcohol, el cos és de color blanc cremós clar amb la pigmentació més intensa al voltant de les escates de la línia lateral.[6][7]

Hàbitat i distribució geogràfica

És un peix d'aigua dolça, pelàgic i de clima tropical,[8] el qual es troba a Àfrica: les conques dels rius Congo[6] (incloent-hi el riu Lekoli a la subconca del Likouala), Uele[6] i Luilaka (a la subconca del riu Ruki)[9] a la República del Congo[6] i la República Democràtica del Congo.[6]

Observacions

És inofensiu per als humans[8] i el seu índex de vulnerabilitat és baix (11 de 100).[10]
