Varanus niloticus (Ornate Monitor) is a species of Squamata in the family monitor lizards. They are listed in cites appendix ii. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Ethiopia and Africa. They are solitary, diurnal carnivores. They have sexual reproduction. Reproduction is oviparous. They have parental care (female provides care). They rely on arboreal (locomotion), running, and swimming to move around.
