Varanus griseus (Desert Monitor) is a species of Squamata in the family monitor lizards. They are listed in cites appendix i. They are found in the indo-malayan realm, the palearctic, and Afrotropics. They are diurnal. They have sexual reproduction. They rely on running to move around.

Definition: Appendix I lists species that are the most endangered among CITES-listed animals and plants.
