Apalone spinifera (Spiny Softshell) is a species of turtles in the family softshell turtles. They are listed as endangered by COSEWIC and in cites appendix iii. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to The Nearctic. They are solitary, diurnal carnivores. They have sexual reproduction. Reproduction is oviparous. They have parental care (female provides care). They rely on swimming to move around.
