Nananana makakii or Happy-face spiderTheridiidaeAlso nanana makakii.Endemic to the Hawaiian Islands (Oahu, Molokai, Maui and Hawaii Island)Photo: Kaala, OahuHawaiian: nananana or nanana makakii. Nanana (spider) makakii (mask, image face). Lit., spider with a mask. Not the "happiest" of happy-face spiders I've seen. But check out her keiki (children) everywhere on the underside of the leaf of this kanawao (Hydrangea [Broussaisia] arguta). That's reason enough to be happy!Theridion grallator is one of the very few spiders species, only about 1%, that not only protect their young but also feed them.

Endemic to some of the Hawaiian Islands. This spider has just spun a web across my rain gauge and posed for a few photos.

These spiders are endemic to the Hawaiian Islands. This spider was on my rain guage and allowed me to photograph it. They often live on the underside of leaves in the rain forests. Elevation approximately 3500 ft. (1067m).
