“Plants bristle-like, cylindrical with bulges, unstalked, unbranched, whorled branched and re-branched, branches not to be confused, 290-620 mm in diameter, 3.6-11.4 cm long. Papillae greatly aggregated. Cellular structure, 4 celled layers, outer cortex smaller, inner gradually larger. Medullar layer, axial cortical filaments densely reticulate without gelatinous matrix. Carpospores in chain.”
