Geranium nelsonii Rose, sp. now Perennial, the caudex branched. Stems tufted, mostly 1-1.5 dm. long, strigillose with erect-appressed hairs, the first internode not greatly elongate ; leaf-blades pentagonal in outline, 1-2 cm. wide, 3-5-parted, the divisions again parted into narrowly linear lobes which are silvery-white with densely crowded appressed hairs beneath, and grayish-pubescent above ; petioles strigillose ; pedicels commonly much elongate, strigillose ; sepals awn-tipped, the outer ones 7-9 mm. long, the bodies oblong or nearly so, canescent, slightly ciliate; petals rose-purple, 12-16 mm. long, usually rounded at apex; fruit not seen.
Type collected on the summit of Mt. Zempoaltepec, Oaxaca, Mexico, July 9, 1894, E. IV. Nelson 622.
Distribution : Known only from the type locality.
