Papilio polyxenes (Black Swallowtail) is a species of butterflies in the family swallowtail butterflies. They are native to The Nearctic and The Neotropics. They visit flowers of coastal plain chaffhead, Spear Thistle, Purple Loosestrife, and common henbit. They are diurnal herbivores. Individuals can grow to 95 mm. They rely on flight to move around.
