描述

體圓而延長，近尾部處則是逐漸側扁。鰓蓋骨後方有一強棘，但前鰓蓋骨上無棘。頭及身體全部被鱗。腹鰭位於眼徑後緣下方，只有1鰭條，但延長至鰓蓋後方。基鰓骨中央有齒。身體的上半部呈黃綠色，上有許多不規則、不連續的棕色斑點。頭部則有一褐色縱帶自吻端達鰓蓋骨上的硬棘。背鰭上有許多褐斑，臀鰭顏色較黑，外緣白色。
棲地

主要棲息於大陸棚砂泥底質環境，大約在100-200公尺左右深度的水層中，以小型魚類及甲殼類為主食。
